Kid Lab Science class. Students conduct experiments that focus on fun, interactivity, and entertainment! All classes are live online PST.
In this Kids Lab class, students will use everyday household items to explore this season of change.
Fall or Autumn is a time for change! In this Kid’s Lab students will learn how to extract the green chlorophyll color from leaves, make pumpkin spice play dough and churn butter like the pilgrims.
Materials You Will Need:
Leaf Color Extraction:
- Real fresh picked leaves (from outside, or spinach can be used)
- Clear glass jar or glass
- Rubbing Alcohol
- Water
- Shallow Bowl
- Microwave
Pumpkin Spice Playdough:
- 2 cups plain flour
- 1 cup salt
- 1 cup cold water
- 1 tbs oil
- Liquid food coloring or Paint (Orange)
- Pumpkin spice mix (ground cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, clove)
Churn Butter:
- Heavy cream or whipping cream at room temperature
- Mason or any jar with lid
- Strainer
- Bowl
Rules for joining the class:
- Please keep your microphone muted
- Raise your hand if you have a question
- Show your art up close to the camera when asked to share progress
- No recording the lesson out of respect to other students
All lessons are held virtually in real time online.
Where are the event details?
- You will receive the link to the event upon registration.
- You will receive reminders 48 hours before the event, 2 hours before the event, and 2 minutes before the event starts.
