VIRTUAL – Read Together, Be Together – Mondays with Michelle Obama

Michelle Obama has joined Read Together, Be Together initiative, a nationwide movement that celebrates the importance of family reading.

Reading aloud every day is one of the most effective ways to foster early literacy and is important for building language skills.

The four week series kicks off Monday, April 20 at 12pm. The videos will be live streamed on PBS KIDS (Facebook & YouTube) as well as Penguin Random House (Facebook).

• Apr 20: The Gruffalo, by Julia Donaldson

• Apr 27: There’s a Dragon in Your Book by Tom Fletcher

• May 4: Miss Maple’s Seeds by Eliza Wheeler

• May 11: The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle

Michelle Obama says, “As a little kid, I loved to read aloud. And when I became a parent, I found such joy in sharing the magic of storytelling with my own children—and then later, as First Lady, with kids everywhere. At this time when so many families are under so much stress, I’m excited to give kids a chance to practice their reading and hear some wonderful stories (and to give parents and caretakers a much-needed break).”
