February 19 at 3pm – Musical Stories from Around the Globe

• • Orchestra Miami presents the music of Victoria Bond in four compositions based on stories from around the world: “The Long-Haired Girl”, based on a Chinese folk tale about a girl who saves villagers from dying of thirst, “Corn in the Rock”, based on a Mayan folk tale that tells about how Coyote steals the corn form the other animals, and how they work together to get it back, “Babies Can’t Eat Kimchi” about two Korean sisters and their unbreakable bond and “Listen to the Wind”, based on a Pakistani Folk song. Performed by the chamber ensemble of Orchestra Miami, with guest soloists and choir.

March 26th  – The Story of Babar The Elephant

• • Join Orchestra Miami for the final concert in its Nicklaus Children’s Hospital Family Fun Concert Series! Your family will be treated to a performance of Poulenc’s The Story of Babar the Elephant, a whimsical musical illustration of the beloved story by Jean de Brunhoff, with narration in English and Spanish. The chamber orchestra of Orchestra Miami will be led by Artistic Director Elaine Rinaldi. The concert also includes other selections about animals which will teach about musical terminology;  concert length is approximately 1 hour.
